Responding to Teachers

 1. Teachers may respond to students who are not participating in class by first identifying the reason for their lack of participation. They may then try to engage the student by asking open-ended questions, providing positive reinforcement, and creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment. If the issue persists, teachers may consider meeting with the student one-on-one to discuss their concerns and develop a plan for improvement.


2. If a student is demonstrating a skills deficit, teachers may provide additional resources and support to help the student develop the necessary skills. This may include offering extra practice opportunities, providing individualized instruction, or connecting the student with a tutor or mentor who can provide additional guidance.


3. If a student is demonstrating a performance deficit, teachers may first try to identify the underlying cause of the issue. They may then work with the student to set achievable goals, provide regular feedback and support, and offer incentives for completing assignments.  1. Five strategies to facilitate student engagement in an online setting are:


a) Interactive activities: Incorporating interactive activities such as quizzes, polls, and discussions can help students stay engaged and participate actively in the online class.


b) Personalized feedback: Providing personalized feedback to students on their assignments and assessments can help them stay motivated and engaged in the course.


c) Collaborative learning: Encouraging students to work in groups and collaborate on projects can help them stay engaged and learn from each other.


d) Multimedia content: Using multimedia content such as videos, podcasts, and infographics can help students stay engaged and understand complex concepts better.


e) Gamification: Incorporating game-like elements such as points, badges, and leaderboards can help students stay engaged and motivated to complete the course.


2. As an online instructor, I would use these strategies in the following ways:


a) Interactive activities: I would use online tools such as Kahoot, Mentimeter, and Padlet to create interactive activities that students can participate in during the class. This will help kids better understand the material and more efficiently practice with the material that they are learning.


b) Personalized feedback: I would provide personalized feedback to students on their assignments and assessments using online tools such as Turnitin and Google Docs. Along with this, I would provide in-person instruction and feedback. This will allow students to ask questions, and there be no confusion between me and them.


c) Collaborative learning: I would use online tools such as Google Meet and Zoom. This can be effective for students who have a schedule where it is more efficient for them to be on Zoom.
